Keeping our patients safe: We are following COVID-19 Safety Protocol.
During your first visit at Lotus Dental, we always want to make sure we get to know each other! It is remarkable how many dentists skip this important first step since it can greatly help a dentist offer personalized care to their patients. Finding out simple information like if a patient has a sweet tooth or if a patient has dental anxieties can let us know exactly how we can help each patient to the best of our abilities.
Once we get to know each other a bit, a full dental exam can begin. In addition to your teeth, your dentist will also inspect the entire mouth, including the lips, gums, tongue and soft tissue. This is to ensure that there is not an area of concern in regards to oral cancer, which has a much higher survival rate when discovered early.
Each tooth will be inspected to ensure there are no cavities formed from decay. In addition, the dentist will use x-rays to see if there are any cavities hidden below the surface or if there are any issues with the root of the tooth. The gums will be inspected for any signs of gingivitis, gum disease, or pockets where bacteria can gather and harm the root of the tooth.
Most of all, your dentist will be able to answer any questions you have about how to take care of your teeth to the best of your ability. While we are always here to take care of any dental issues you may have, our hope is to give you enough information for you to properly take care of your oral health and just see us every six months for a checkup!
